How content on this site is researched, written, reviewed and corrected.
Our standards
Trading education is an area where bad information is profitable to publish and expensive to act on. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.
We do not invent statistics
Pattern "success rates" circulate widely online with no traceable source. We do not repeat them. Where we cannot point to a defensible source, we describe behaviour qualitatively rather than attaching a number that would sound more authoritative than it deserves.
We publish failure conditions
Every pattern and method guide states the conditions under which it does not work. A guide that only explains when something succeeds is marketing, not education.
We show our arithmetic
Where a claim rests on maths (break-even win rates, drawdown recovery, compounding, position sizing), the calculation appears on the page so you can verify it rather than take our word for it.
We separate fact from judgement
Definitions and arithmetic are stated as fact. Opinions about what is useful in practice are framed as opinion. We try never to blur the two.
How content is produced
- Scope. We define the exact question a page should answer and who is asking it.
- Draft. Written to explain the mechanism rather than to hit a word count.
- Technical review. Definitions, arithmetic and worked examples are checked line by line.
- Clarity review. Jargon is removed or defined; circular explanations are rewritten.
- Publication. Substantive later changes are noted on the page.
Updates and corrections
Our content is reference material rather than news, so it is maintained rather than archived. Pages are revised when we find a clearer explanation, when a definition needs tightening, or when a reader points out an error.
If you find a factual error, please tell us. Corrections are made promptly and are our highest-priority form of reader feedback. Substantive corrections are noted on the page. Use the contact page.
Bylines
Every guide carries the name of the person who wrote it. Our editor, Ellis Hartley, writes the technical analysis, pattern, indicator and risk management guides; our senior writer, Graham Whitlock, writes the fundamental analysis, trading statistics and portfolio guides. Each reads the other's work before it is published, and the author page linked from every byline describes what that writer covers.
We do not lean on credentials to make an argument. A guide has to stand on whether its reasoning is correct and its arithmetic checks out, which is why the working is on the page where you can check it.
Independence
We do not accept payment for coverage, do not publish sponsored articles presented as editorial, and do not take broker affiliate commissions in exchange for recommendations. If the site carries advertising in future it will be clearly labelled as advertising and will have no influence on editorial content.
